SISLER JOHNSTON COMPLETES OCEAN HOUSE AT
PONTE VEDRA INN & CLUB

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLORIDA –Sisler Johnston Interior Design completed the installation of Ocean House at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club just in time for the arrival of The Players Club Championship golf tournament guests. The company redesigned 28 guest rooms and six parlor suites at Ocean House, which offers spacious and luxurious oceanfront accommodations.

“The building is completely renovated and the team met the challenge to get the project completed in time for TPC,” said Judith Sisler Johnston, president and ASID Allied Member. “The Ponte Vedra Inn and Club is determined in their goal of making sure every room on the property is in keeping with their five-diamond status.”

In addition to Sisler Johnston Interior Design, the team included The Auchter Co. as the general contractor and Rink, Reynolds, Diamond, Fisher, Wilson as the architect.

Installations of this size and scope can take weeks, however the Sisler Johnston design team completed the project in days making it possible for TPC guests to enjoy the new surroundings.

Along with new furnishings and finishes, the Ocean House renovation work includes new plumbing and the addition of separate water closets in the bathrooms. Sisler Johnston selected an 18-inch Italian Classico Nocheloa foundation stone for the flooring and walls in the bathrooms and entry areas with a small one-inch inlay Coco Noche accent on the listello, which is located at eye level, and installed four-inch coordinating stone on the shower floors. The plumbing hardware features a brushed nickel finish.

Sisler Johnston chose imported Italian Giallo Antico granite countertops for the bathrooms, dressing areas and wet bars. With its golden peachy tones, it blends well with the new maple cabinets in the bathrooms as well as the original cabinetry in the guest rooms. The bathrooms include custom mirrors with generous sized nickel finish framing.

The guest room baths feature custom wall coverings with a small bamboo motif in a soft sea green. “When you are designing oceanfront property, you have to take into consideration the humidity and moisture,” Sisler Johnston said. “It is best to get a lot of impact out of paint rather than use wallpaper.” The vanity benches feature a pineapple tapestry, highlighting the symbol of Southern hospitality.

Ocean House offers six parlor suites, which feature separate parlor and bedroom quarters. Sisler Johnston specifically designed three of the suites to appeal to children as well as their parents. These parlor suites offer two twin beds and furnishings with distressed ivory finishes with worn pine corners and louvered doors.

The children’s parlors highlight many nautical accents, including lamps and wall decorations. Sisler Johnston chose a sailboat fabric for the window coverings and bed skirts, which are paired with neutral striped bedspreads. There is also a red, white and blue children’s play table as well as a computer equipped with the latest computer games. An ideal spot for the babysitter is the full sized chair and ottoman.

“With its proximity to the Surf Club and pool, Ocean House is a popular choice for families,” Sisler Johnston said. “We designed the furnishings in the room in a sophisticated nautical theme with family relaxation in mind.”

The adult parlors feature a more sophisticated flair with an entertainment center surrounded by a sleep sofa, lounge chair and ottoman. There is also a breakfast table and two chairs. These parlors feature a soft chiffon color highlighting a tropical motif. Window treatments include decorative side panels. All of the rooms have privacy sheers as well as blackout lining for travelers desiring the luxury of an afternoon nap.

A Florida landmark since it opened in 1928, The Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation. The oceanfront resort has a five diamond rating from the Automobile Association of America.
