JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – Judith Sisler Johnston, president, Sisler Johnston Interior Design, outlined how a well-designed model home can increase profit during her program, “How to Work with a Professional Interior Designer to Maximize Your Bottom Line,” during the Sales and Marketing Council of the Northeast Florida Builders Association’s recent breakfast program.

“ A well designed, decorated model home will have an emotional impact on a community’s potential buyers,” Sisler Johnston explained during her program. “For the homebuyer, the decision to invest in a new home is often the fulfillment of a dream. They are buying a home that fits their lifestyle and appeals to their emotions. Buyers have to mentally move in before they buy that house.”

Sisler Johnston outlined the importance of professionally decorated model homes and how a decorated model can benefit a homebuilder’s bottom line. According to Sisler Johnston, the formula for profit begins with a beautifully designed model home by a licensed interior designer. “A well designed model home will increase traffic,” she explained, “traffic increases sales, sales increase profit.”

Breakfast attendees listened as she discussed top design trends, how to select a designer, how to work with the designer, the elements of a contract and money savings techniques.

“Be sensitive to industry trends,” Sisler Johnston stated. “Buyers are looking for quality and comfort, color and texture, natural products, upscale features and a home that brings the outdoors in. Buyers want authenticity and a home that represents lasting value.”
