JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - Sisler Johnston Interior Design has completed the installation of ICI Homes' Plantation II model home at Magnolia Preserve at Julington Creek Plantation. The model incorporates new design improvements on one of ICI's most successful floor plans.
"ICI is always improving their new home designs and looking for a better way to do what they do best." said Judith Sisler Johnston, president of Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member.
Sisler Johnston applied color trends showcased at the most recent International Home Furnishings Market in her design of The Plantation II. The home is colorful with French red and earthbound green accents against a harvest tan backdrop. The flooring in the entry foyer and entertainment areas is a 20" stone tile laid on a diagonal in ochre rust. Other rooms have a hayseed color carpet.
The home's formal living and dining rooms have 12' ceilings and Sisler Johnston used architectural detailing techniques to highlight the vivid colors. The living room has a wall of windows surrounding a double door with transom windows above. A picture moulding detail was added above the harvest tan sofa to frame the accent color. The lounge chair and other decorative furnishings add bold French red color statements to the room.
The dining room furnishings are a wonderful collection of pieces representing different periods and styles, unified by their traditional walnut stain finish. The room includes a beautiful recessed niche with plant shelf above. Sisler Johnston painted the niche in French red and added a hand-painted Bombay chest with spectacular starburst mirror above. The dining room also has a contemporary walnut server and a stately double pedestal dining table with fluted legs. The large table seats six and is surrounded by fully upholstered and skirted guest chairs in a green and red tapestry print paired with contemporary walnut stained host chairs that have a French red tone-on-tone jacquard tapestry fabric. The cascading window treatments add more color and architectural interest to the room.
The gourmet kitchen highlights deeper, richer tones paired with biscuit cabinetry.
ICI took full advantage of the room's 12' ceiling height by adding double upper cabinets with glass-front doors, providing storage as well as space for displaying collectables. The countertops are a golden Jiallo Cecila granite. For contrast, Sisler Johnston chose to do the stepped Island with a midnight black top and glass-front doors and shelves. Contemporary furnishings blend with classic elements in the breakfast room. It has a large stone table base with a beveled edge glass top and a tiered iron console with walnut shelves.
The family room has Italian stone tile floors and has been paired with a patterned Persian area rug to add warmth. A distressed antique tobacco leather sofa with nailhead trim is shown with contemporary tables accented with classic hardware. The centerpiece of the family room is the expansive fossil stone fireplace, which is surrounded by windows that bathe the room in light. For that reason, the flat screen plasma television entertainment center is positioned on the opposing wall. A double rattan paddle blade ceiling fan provides a tropical element as well as a striking complement to the family room's deep walnut and leather accents. Window treatments also add rich layering.
An adjacent hallway provides unique niche opportunities. One recessed niche is designed as a space for the family pet while the other has lighting and offers a drop off space for children to store their school books and shoes. "I enjoyed doing the framing walk through on these homes with Division President Don Wilford," Sisler Johnston said. "He has the natural architectural ability to envision extra square footage that other builders hide behind walls. He uses it for the benefit of the homeowner."
The master bedroom is located on the main floor and designed as a soothing
retreat with deep Nordic tan walls and contemporary furnishings. The window
treatments and coverings adorning the walnut platform-style bed embrace soothing neutral tones with subtle persimmon color accents. The seating area is large enough for his and hers chairs as well as a shared ottoman. The luxurious master bath features a corner tub surrounded by windows with classic millwork trim. There are also dual floating under lighted vanities, media ledges for mounting a television to enjoy in the bath or walk-in closets areas.
The children's rooms are ideally suited for a boy and girl. The boy's room has a free standing grouping with a cherry finish manufactured by Stanley Furniture. Painted with lunar green walls, the boy's room has a khaki bed covering and decorative sports memorabilia from local schools adorn the shelves and walls. The feminine girl's room was designed for a ballet and music lover. The room is painted in hot pink and has a white poster bed with sheer toile draperies flowing from the four posts. There is a beautiful bench at the foot of the bed, scrolled iron lettering over the headboard and a mirror armoire filled with her dance recital dresses.
The study with private bath is designed for the golfer and is adorned with handsome millwork wainscot in a Tattersol brown finish up to a chair height. The wallpaper design has a subtle antique golf ball pattern and the window treatments incorporate actual golf balls and tees into the valences. The room has a mahogany desk, accent chairs and wall to wall bookcases filled with golfing books, photographs and memorabilia.
The upstairs continues with a large guest room and private bath. The bedroom
furnishings are leather and rattan, including a king bed and television armoire. There is also a bonus room and bath designed for the car racing enthusiast with a delightful coffee table that highlights the theme. Besides a large sectional sofa, there is a game table and chairs, free-standing entertainment center and a wet bar surrounded by a full wall of built-in millwork cabinetry storage.
