LAKE ASBURY, Florida – Sisler Johnston Interior Design has completed the installation of the St. Johns, a new Cornerstone Homes model at Rolling Hills in Clay County.
The home has a formal entry foyer with stone tile laid on a diagonal and bordered with a band of one-inch marble mosaics in charcoal, umber and ochre. The foyer opens to reveal a spacious living area including a great room, dining room, gourmet kitchen and breakfast room. Sisler Johnston colored the walls in shades of whole wheat and then added paprika, spearmint and charcoal to the palette with fabric choices and accent paints on select walls.
“When a home has an open family floor plan that includes multiple rooms like this one, I like to use patterns and colors that flow easily from one area to the next and unify the rooms into one large, inviting living area,” said Judith Sisler Johnston, president, Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member.
The great room’s centerpiece is the fireplace. A recessed niche above is painted in spearmint and designed to hold a flat screen television. Sisler Johnston selected a sofa and loveseat in a paprika-textured solid and a lounge chair in a green, camel and rust geometric-patterned fabric with leather enhancements and large nail head trim. The same fabric is also used for sofa pillows and window valences. The cocktail table is rustic walnut with a slate top.
Large-scale framed art reinforces the room’s geometry and patterns. Traditional framing ties to the rich brown cherry cabinets in the open kitchen and lush leather breakfast room chairs. The nook is large enough for a server chest and a large double window floods the space with sunlight. The stainless appliances shown are one of the many choices Cornerstone buyers have when they visit the company’s design center.
Sisler Johnston chose a combed stripe wall covering in spearmint for the kitchen and charcoal brown solid surface countertops to lend to the home’s rustic appeal. The formal dining room seats six with a wall that accommodates a large, hand-painted sideboard and mirror. Sisler Johnston selected a whole wheat textured solid fabric for the side chairs, which are corded in a contrasting chocolate brown. The host chairs are upholstered in the geometric fabric used for the great room accents.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a powder room, laundry room and family foyer leading to the garage. The family foyer has been equipped with built-in millwork for family computer space and “stop and drop” cubbies for each family member. The home has a covered outdoor living room and dining area for six. Pavers have been added to enhance the terrace.
The master bedroom has a privacy foyer and also offers access to the terrace. The master bedroom feature wall has been painted spearmint and Sisler Johnston selected brown walnut furnishings. A king-sized sleigh bed has bed covers in a soft neutral paisley pattern with spearmint accents. The bay window has space for two comfortable lounge chairs upholstered in a neutral quilted solid. The master bathroom has his-and-her vanities, a walk-in shower and separate water closet. Sisler Johnston selected a textured green wall covering with ferns stenciled in the background.

The home has three other bedrooms. Sisler Johnston designed one for the elementary school athlete with a low profile loft bed fabricated in all-star and varsity bedding. A wall has been papered to replicate a field goal and an area rug has been fabricated by sewing varsity pennants together in a circular pattern. Pennants have been used in the window valances as well.
The girl’s bedroom reveals her tween interest in the arts and theatre. Her bedding is colorful and artsy with large polka dots and swirls. Her bed wall sparkles in a vivid green accent to complement her distressed yellow night stand. Her table and floor lamp has a fancy straw hat and ribbon as a lamp shade.
The home’s fourth bedroom was designed for guests and highlights equestrian interests. Sisler Johnston selected plaid and sporting prints for the bedding accents, art and accessories. A queen-sized bed, double dresser and mirror combine traditional elegance with updated woven wicker insets. The draperies are neutral with spearmint banding and equestrian harness metal trim.
