JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – Sisler Johnston Interior Design has completed the installation of The Phoenix model by Brylen Homes at Port St. John, a beautiful community along the St. Johns River in Northern St. Johns County.

“I love the way this home is segmented into different areas for privacy and to reflect architectural interest,” said Judith Sisler Johnston, president, Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member.

The exterior elevation captures the essence of classic Florida riverfront with a mixture of stucco lap siding, shingle and brick.  The site is filled with century-old oak trees and the exterior colors complement the location.

The interior floor plan boasts a graceful architectural design demonstrating a broad range of complementary finishes.  Tile details, custom millwork, granite countertops, decorative lighting and plumbing fixtures are just some of the beautiful options Brylen Homes offers.

The Phoenix model is a four bedroom, four-and-a-half bath, two-story home with a study, billiards room and a media room upstairs.  The home’s neutral background includes three complementary shades of paint for the walls, ceiling and trim.  Textured carpets and tile are contrasted with a jewel toned palette of fabrics and finishes that complete this home’s true elegance.  The decor is a classic and eclectic blend of medium color tones with carved wood, hammered iron and furnishings from around the globe.  Tropical patterned fabrics and textured wall coverings layer the distinctive design features and colors in each area of the home.

The foyer was designed using 20” x 20” Tuscany beige tile.  A polished noche detail outlines a geometric floor pattern that corresponds to the stepped ceiling above.  The ruby accent color, which is the prevalent accent color throughout the home, is reflected in the fabrics, wallcoverings and art.

The home has a formal living room adjacent to a formal dining area.  These rooms have generous proportions conducive to entertaining.  Sisler Johnston selected solid silk fabrics in camel and inset ruby silk fabric into the drapery and cornice accents for a dramatic contrast.  The entire area is tiled and Sisler Johnston added custom area carpets to define the spaces and frame the inviting seating group.

The living room and dining room has a licensed collection of furnishings from Lane’s National Geographic Marrakech.  Ornamental iron is framed as art on the living room sofa wall, which has millwork architectural accents and an applied grass cloth finish.  The living room has a gas fireplace with a millwork mantle and noche tumbled marble surround.  A three panel ornamental screen complements the art and iron details in the entry console and chairside tables.  The home has a butler pantry wall for wine storage and cabinetry for displaying collectables.

The gourmet kitchen has cabinets in sandstone with rubbed-through maple accents.  The Italian granite countertops are in Giallo golden tones and offset by a tumbled marble backsplash in varied neutral shades.  A lighted pot rack is centered over the cooking island and mini pendant fixtures are suspended over the bar for beauty and function.  The pantry also serves as a wine cellar.  The breakfast room has a mitered glass bay window overlooking the pool.  The chandelier is in a sandstone finish with a bronze pineapple motif to reinforce the room’s hospitality appeal.

The family room is a gathering space for everyone.  It boasts a custom millwork niche with a plasma television and surround sound.  Sisler Johnston chose a doeskin fabric for the large sectional sofa and corded the cushions in a ruby suede cloth.  The room has a game table to demonstrate the room’s varied function possibilities.

Adjacent to the family room is the children’s wing.  It has its own gathering room with built in homework desks and play space.  The girl’s room was designed in contemporary bright colors for the fashion conscious “t’weenager” using a fun poodle fur fabric for the bedding and window designs.  The boy’s bedroom reflects the boating interest he shares with his dad and friends in this riverfront community.  The boy’s loft bed has a bunk for sleepovers and his bedding is upholstered in nautical patterned fabrics.

The master bedroom wing, which has a trey ceiling with crown moulding, includes a sitting area with lounge chairs and shared ottoman.  The master bath has an oval whirlpool tub, walk-in shower, private water closet and double vanities and closets.  Three tile sizes and styles were used as pattern accents.

The second story has a home office retreat with desk and custom-built bookcases that define the sitting area, which is furnished with leather and tapestry patterned chairs and sofa.  The designer painted the bookcase wall in apple green and used ruby, camel and cowhide as complimentary colors.

“The home office is truly a retreat with its own entertainment and sitting room,” Sisler Johnston said.

Also upstairs is the billiards room, which has a walk around serving bar and pub table.  The room has bead board installed to a 48” height and coordinating window designs.

This home also has a large upstairs guest suite furnished with a rattan inlaid sleigh bed, circular mirror and captain’s dresser for storage.  Ruby bed coverings are accented by sage tropical patterned shams and pillows.  An accent wall in sage green provides added interest.

“There are no small secondary bedrooms in this home,” Sisler Johnston said.  “Even the guest bedroom suite could be mistaken as an upstairs master bedroom.”

Instead of a storage attic, the builder added a home theatre equipped with the latest technology.  The space has savory colored walls and patterned carpet.  Sisler Johnston selected recliner chairs with cup holders for theatre viewing and enjoyment.

Port St. John is situated on 24 treed acres along the historic St. Johns River off Highway 13 in Northern St. Johns County, just south of Julington Creek.
