SISLER JOHNSTON INTERIOR DESIGN COMPLETES
NEW ICI MODEL HOME AT TIDEWATER

JACKSONVILLE, Florida– The work of Sisler Johnston Interior Design sparkles in the Tidewater Breeze model by ICI Homes at Tidewater in North Jacksonville.

“This home has unique low country architecture with its lap siding, stucco and metal roof accents,” said Judith Sisler Johnston, president, Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member. “Large porches wrap the living area and the view of the adjacent marshes is breathtaking.”
The foyer is entered by ascending a flight of cedar stairs. The front door opens to reveal a panorama of the living room, dining room, family room, breakfast room and kitchen with many windows surrounding each space. Distressed wide-plank wood flooring covers the home’s living areas with sisal area rugs in each conversation grouping.

Niches add architectural interest and have been papered in textured wall coverings that have subtle sage shading. The numerous windows are staggered and have been layered in grid patterned silks. In the family room, celery matchstick blinds along with decorative gauze textured shields and drapery panels have been used as valances.

The dining room has a round table setting with six shield-back chairs upholstered in a latte and cappuccino jacquard. The bombe server chest hints at an exotic Moroccan design and also serves as a piece of art. Its drawers have a variety of burl wood patterned inlays. A 48” round leather embossed mirror complements the shape of the room with its octagonal coffered ceiling. The gracious living room has furnishings with neutral tone upholstery topped with espresso and gold classic patterned accent pillows.

The kitchen has cherry raised-panel cabinets and granite countertops with stone backsplash tiles. The breakfast room overlooks the vivid green marsh and is a perch for spotting the tall, white egrets that frequent the community. The cabinetry is repeated in the adjacent family room fireplace and entertainment surround. The room has the feeling of being up on stilts. It overlooks a large Palladian window and exposed staircase that leads to a lower level.

“I treated the Palladian windows with heavy wooden rods, and then cascaded jabots of neutral gauze and added jewelry trim to each panel for a beaded shimmering accent,” Sisler Johnston said.

The lower level has two bedroom suites, along with a homework station for two and a bonus room with refreshment bar. A fishing theme in the bonus room reinforces Tidewater’s coastal lifestyle. The cocktail table base is a canoe and the accent table base
has coordinating oars. The fabrics incorporate fishing signs, lures, reels and rods to enhance the theme. There is large walnut porcelain tile flooring with area rugs added to the conversation spaces. A game table is set for chess and doubles for backgammon or board game competitions. The entertainment unit has been designed for large flat screen viewing and the bookcase is filled with fishing collectables and memorabilia.

The little girl’s bedroom is a spacious tropical retreat with twin beds and a play table space. The beds are covered in tangerine comforters and the bed wall has been accented in a summer savory shade while the others are painted a crème brule. The headboards feature a custom picket fence motif, which is repeated in the play area chairs. The boy’s room has an all-sports theme highlighting a loft bed in pewter metal, a leather basketball chair and a tiered entertainment center on wheels.

The master suite is on the main level and overlooks the marsh with access to the adjacent viewing porch. A distressed wood dresser is painted espresso and has been paired with a leather paneled sleigh bed and rattan night chests with espresso stone tops. Sisler Johnston selected russet and sage solid fabrics. Patterns in this space have been used sparingly so they do not compete with the majestic view. The master bath has separate dressing areas, a private water closet and spacious clothing storage closets. The wallpaper texture in this space adds depth and dimension to its generous proportions.

Another private guest suite and bath has a queen-sized headboard with a rattan frame with custom fabric insets. The night tables are espresso leather studded with pewter nail heads. The room’s high ceilings and windows are framed in cascades of woven neutrals panels with espresso trim.

“Even the guest bath has tall ceiling heights,” Sisler Johnston said. “To accentuate the height, I chose a strong contrast vertical fabric, banded the panel with deep espresso solid, and trimmed it in beads containing the range of shades used. Putting jewelry trim on window dressings has the same effect as jewelry does in the fashion world. It adds sparkle and elegance to the rest of the outfitted room.”

Tidewater is a gated community surrounded by the natural beauty of the Timucuan Preserve and the shores of Clapboard Creek. The neighborhood recreation area includes a clubhouse with a resort-style pool, tot lot and play courts. Tidewater is located near Interstate 95 and Florida 9A. Travel east on Heckscher Drive and north on New Berlin Road. Turn right on Cedar Point Road. Tidewater is on the right.
