ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2009) – Sisler
Johnston Interior Design recently completed the Henry
A. & Jewel June Baker Tranquility Suite at Fleet Landing,
a Lifecare community in Atlantic Beach.
The
Tranquility Suite provides Fleet Landing residents in hospice
or last-stage care a dignified and private care environment
while ensuring privacy and comfort for families as they visit
with their loved ones. The suite was established by
the Baker’s
daughters, Barbara Ellis, Gail Stone and Lynn Mull, in their parents’ honor
and was funded through memorial gifts.
“The
Tranquility Suite gives families an opportunity to spend
meaningful time together in the privacy of a well-appointed,
home-like environment,” said Judith Sisler Johnston,
president of Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied
Member. This is the latest of several facilities the
Jacksonville interior designer has completed at Fleet Landing.
The
three-room suite has a family room, bedroom and bath. Sisler
Johnston Interior Design completed the Tranquility Suite
with finishes, furnishings and fabrics offering the same
upscale design and amenities as a comfortable hotel suite. The
suite’s harmonious tropical palette of palm green,
tropic berry and sunshine gold encourages warmth and interaction.
For the
flooring, which is anti-microbial and easy to maintain, Sisler Johnston selected
high-performance sheet vinyl. It features a honey maple wood plank pattern
that has all the appeal of natural wood.

The
family room has a comfortable sleeper sofa upholstered in
a textural green fabric. Custom pillows with a tropical motif
coordinate with the window treatments. A wall of custom
millwork houses a flat screen television and a beverage station
with refrigerator, microwave, coffee counter and sink.
A
signature collection of Tommy Bahama tables and furnishings
layer the tropical theme with relaxed elegance. The
collection includes a coffee table, lamp table and computer
desk. Table lamps and floor lamps are in a reeded rattan
style with a coffee maple finish. The framed art showcases
Coastal European landscapes. A hand-painted chest and
custom framed mirror sit on an alcove wall and separate the
family room from the bedroom and bath.
The
bedroom is equipped with a power-operated hospital bed. Sisler
Johnston designed custom quilted slip covers for the headboard
and footboard to give it a residential appeal. A quilted
bedspread was fabricated with a sunny, yellow dot pattern
that was also used for the draw draperies. A bolder
tropical print adorns the accent pillows, bed scarf and geometric
cornice. The contrasting cords and trims are in a
rich terra cotta. Sisler Johnston also provided two
wall hugger sleep recliners, which afford comfort and compact
durability, for the bedroom area. A clothing armoire
and bedside chest have a honey maple finish. A nautical
sailing ship lamp reminds visitors of Fleet Landing’s
close proximity to the beaches and reinforces a relaxed ambiance. The
suite’s patterned wallcoverings provide a warm backdrop
and offer a textural interpretation of a fisherman’s
net. There is a large flat screen television for easy
bedside
viewing.
