JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – Sisler Johnston interior Design has completed Panitz Signature Homes’ St. Augustine model in Palencia.

“This truly is a family home,” said Judith Sisler Johnston, president, Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member.  “Lee and Sandra Panitz stay personally involved in planning the home’s design and many features.  Their ‘signature’ is obvious in the attention to detail evident in every room of this exceptional home.”

The St. Augustine is a two-story home with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a home office, spacious bonus room, pool, lanai, and second-story evening deck.

The entry foyer is spectacular.  The 18” stone floor contains a round mosaic insert that creates the appearance of a marble area rug.  An iron chandelier with Italian scavo glass lamps descends from a two-story trey ceiling, which is painted in a spruce color.  Sisler Johnston uses this accent technique in several areas of the home.  The impressive staircase with European turned iron pickets has half-inch mosaic stone on the riser portion while the treads are walnut stained wood and coordinate with the handrail.

The formal living room ceiling soars 22’ and dramatic silk swag window dressings cascade from ceiling to floor.  They are banded with a spruce and Bordeaux tapestry that coordinates with an upholstered living room accent chair.  A Bordeaux colored Persian carpet defines the room’s seating area.  Sisler Johnston added picture frame moulding on the living room sofa wall to create architectural niches, which are accented in spruce.

The formal dining room has a two-step trey ceiling, which is accented in the same spruce color.  A faux painted wall covering and wood wainscot provide the backdrop for the marble and glass dining table, carved wood chairs and fully upholstered guest chairs.  Sisler Johnston used silk and tapestry fabrics to coordinate the formal living spaces.

The home office is a turret-shaped room with expansive 14’ windows.  A mammoth bookcase console complements the room’s scale.  Sisler Johnston used golf patterned imported tapestry to fabricate the desk chairs accompanying the handsome table desk is in a mahogany finish.

A guest bedroom on the first floor is designed with hand-painted tropical furniture.  An adjacent bath has a furniture console vanity with a marble top and a beautifully framed mirror.
Besides accessing the foyer, the winding double staircase also flows into the family room, kitchen and breakfast room.  This area is enormous and truly the heart of the home.

The family room is designed with a celadon chenille sectional sofa and beautiful millwork surrounding the fireplace.  Strong accent colors lend excitement to this space.  The breakfast room has an iron furniture group and mahogany leather barstools.  In the kitchen, a black/green painted island cabinet provides contrast to the toasted maple cabinetry with a chocolate wash.  Granite counter tops from Italy have charcoal, gold, ivory and honey tones.
In an area so alive with activity, a textured background is a calming backdrop.  “I chose to clad all walls in this area in a sensational new faux grasscloth paper,” Sisler Johnston said.  “The scale of the paper is larger than a natural grasscloth and the texture is so realistic that even the installer and jobsite workers kept running their hands over it.”

The master retreat is on the first floor and designed with furnishings in a honey maple wood tone.  A tall transitional poster bed, lavishly draped with silks, tassels and French tapestries, is the room’s centerpiece.  The room’s sitting area has his-and-her lounge chairs in French bergere style with celadon chenille upholstery.  The master suite has his-and-her closets with built-in mahogany storage cabinetry.

Sisler Johnston designed the upstairs bonus room to have a sporty beadboard wainscot painted with a butterscotch gloss.  A billiard table, game table, homework station and a walk-around bar makes this a multi-purpose family space.  A large wall-mounted plasma TV provides additional entertainment options.  The bonus room has its own powder room.

Two large bedrooms upstairs share a full bath.  The bedrooms are themed to reflect the interests of children who attend neighborhood schools.
