SISLER JOHNSTON INTERIOR DESIGN COMPLETES
BRYLEN HOMES’ VIZCAYA MODEL AT PALENCIA

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The work of Sisler Johnston Interior Design shines in Brylen Homes’ new Vizcaya model at The Townhomes of Palencia Village. The Vizcaya is a courtyard home offering the size and livability of a single-family home.  The first floor, which includes a living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast room and family room, presents an open design with high ceilings and large windows and transoms, allowing an abundance of natural light to fill each room.

The Vizcaya highlights a warm macadamia, chocolate and antique pine color palette.  The living room and dining room have well-defined spaces identified by large area rugs.  The living room furnishings include a textured linen sofa accompanied by Bergere chairs covered in chenille tapestry and a collection of tables featuring interesting wood, stone, iron, glass, and rattan accents.

The dining room has a simple yet elegant drywall enhancement on the feature wall using antique pine color blocks framed with painted picture frame mouldings.
“It serves as a focal point for the room and provides a dramatic backdrop for the custom-framed art and sconces,” said Judith Sisler Johnston, president, Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member.  “Another technique I utilize when I design a dining room is to select interesting host chairs to set them apart from the guest chairs.”
In this model, the fully upholstered host chairs have soft, leafy chenille embellished with large studded nail head trim to lend a casual ambiance.  For contrast, the dining room side chairs are espresso rattan with an iron palm relief on the medallion back.  Since the chairs are so different, Sisler Johnston used the same custom fabric on the host chairs for seating cushions on the side chairs to bring unity to the setting.

The kitchen, breakfast room and gathering rooms flow into one another and share an 18’ expanse of chocolate cherry cabinetry, including a computer planning area and a wrap-around breakfast and serving bar.  The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and a natural limestone backsplash in a creamy macadamia brick pattern.

The gathering room has a large screen entertainment center in chocolate cherry wood surrounded by collector shelving filled with golfing memorabilia.  Chocolate background accent pillows with palm frond patterns highlight the textured neutral upholstery fabric on the sofa and lounge chair.  To complete the conversation grouping, Sisler Johnston added a comfortable classic leather lounge chair and ottoman.  Since natural stone flooring covers the first floor, an area rug frames the seating group.

With a wrought iron custom forged handrail, the Vizcaya’s stairway to its second story highlights European style.  The home’s upstairs is as spacious and livable as the downstairs.  Every room on the second floor has 10’ ceilings.

The master suite has two walls painted in antique pine to contrast the others painted in macadamia.  A four poster bed adds a romantic flair while a hand-painted writing desk provides beauty and function.  Sisler Johnston customized the bed by lowering the posts at the footboard to avoid obstructing the views through the two walls of windows that surround this space.  The macadamia beige linen duvet has antique pine colored threads woven into it.  Tangerine suede cloth covers large euro-style pillows while a stately geometric fabric highlights the tailored window dressings.

To provide contrast to the natural maple furniture in the guest room, Sisler Johnston painted two walls tangerine and added pine green bed covers and drapery panels.  A tangerine background tropical print highlights the shams and valances.  A third bedroom has stylish espresso brown twin beds with latte, chocolate and ice mint bedcovers and a bamboo patterned wallcovering on the feature wall.

A laundry room is conveniently located off the bedroom hall.  For all bathroom wall tile, Brylen Homes offers European coordinating tiles as a standard selection, a feature that is frequently a builder upgrade.  The Townhomes of Palencia Village also have a courtyard area behind the homes and offer detached garages with optional flats over the garage.

Located in northern St. Johns County along the Intracoastal Waterway, Palencia is a golf course community of exceptional natural beauty.  The community offers an array of amenities, including an 18-hole championship golf course, swim and fitness center, tennis center, athletic park and more than 30 acres of neighborhood parks and trails.
