Senior Housing Design

A new generation of senior citizens is reinventing retirement and what they want in their golden years. When it comes to homes, today’s seniors want high quality, beautiful surroundings and the same amenities as younger homebuyers. They want to live in comfort and style.
Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach is one of the area’s best kept secrets. This active community just a few blocks from the beach is an exceptionally well-planned and well-designed community. Fleet Landing blends the comforts of home with the amenities of a first-class resort. The private, gated community features carefree living for adults age 62 and over. Fleet Landing is an accredited not-for-profit life care community that offers independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care. Fleet Landing’s continuum of care makes it possible to remain in the community as health care needs change. It is ideally designed so that residents can age in place.
For the active adult, Fleet Landing is a true resort community. The community is beautifully landscaped and has a fully equipped fitness center, 25-meter heated outdoor pool and tennis courts. The community center is the gathering place for clubs, programs, special events, and activities. Residents enjoy gourmet dining options on site and transportation services are also available.
I first became acquainted with Fleet Landing when I was caring for my Mother. I was extremely impressed with the exceptional facilities, the quality of care and the community’s beautiful surroundings. Research supports the therapeutic value of beautiful surroundings and there is clear evidence that it is beneficial to good health. I am pleased that Fleet Landing approached me to design their furnished models. My challenge was to produce professionally furnished models that matched the community’s exceptional caliber and high quality services.
Fleet Landing’s homes and apartments are designed with accessible and comfortable spaces. They feature oversized windows that fill the rooms with light and newly renovated kitchens and bathrooms with raised panel cabinetry, solid surface countertops and ceramic tile. Residents can choose hardwood plank flooring or tile in the entertainment areas of the home with carpeting in the bedrooms.
The patio home model features a wonderful floor plan with a formal living and dining room, a generous eat-in kitchen, two bedrooms and an imagination room located adjacent to the living room that provides a private space ideal for many uses. The imagination room in this model is designed as a combination sun room/home office. The model is dressed in shades of tangerine and cream with soft celadon accents and features an eclectic mix of Tuscan style furnishings in warm brown wood tones.
The apartment model is a spacious two bedroom design featuring a relaxed tropical theme in shades of camel, sage, cinnamon and spice with warm cherry wood-tone furnishings. In both models I added decorative lighting and fans throughout as well as custom window treatments to draw attention to their expansive size and opportunity for natural light.
I am honored to be designing for Fleet Landing. The community has a beautiful location adjacent to Hanna Park and offers a wonderful lifestyle with endless amenities. Fleet Landing is truly a place to come home to during the retirement years.
