ATLANTIC BEACH,
Florida – Sisler Johnston Interior Design recently
provided students from Bartram Trail High School’s
interior design program with a unique job shadowing experience. The
students assisted members of the Jacksonville interior design
firm with the installation of Windward Commons, the new community
center at Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach.
“It
is fascinating to see all the steps in the interior design
process come together at the job site for the project installation,” said
Judith Sisler Johnston, president of Sisler Johnston Interior
Design and ASID Allied Member. “We were excited
to work with Bartram Trail High School and provide a real-life
learning experience for their students, who will be tomorrow’s
leaders in the interior design industry.”
Under the
direction of Sisler Johnston Interior Design project coordinator Liz Rhoden
and business manager Darlene Linge, Bartram Trail High School students Kara
Galloway and Sonya Cliff assisted with the installation of fabrics, furnishings
and accessories at Windward Commons.

The 25,000-square-foot
community center at Fleet Landing features age-friendly lifestyle
amenities, including a fitness center, spa and salon, art
studio, technology center, 400-seat auditorium and a gathering
room with fireplace. Bartram Trail High School
interior design program instructor Donna Lawrence also spent the day at the
job site to observe the installation. The students
learned valuable skills while participating in a key component
of the interior design process.
“Our
firm specializes in designing interiors for senior living communities,” Sisler
Johnston said. “In addition to seeing the elements
of an age-friendly design, the students witnessed how interior
environments can be designed to contribute to the wellness
and self-esteem of all who enjoy them.”
Linge serves
on Bartram Trail High School’s Interior Design Career Academy advisory
board. Sisler Johnston Interior Design also supports
the program by providing the school with catalogs, fabrics
and other industry materials to use in design projects.
