JACKSONVILLE, Florida –JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The work of Sisler Johnston Interior Design shines in the Ashley model home by ICI Homes at Villages of Westport.
“The Ashley offers multiple entertainment spaces for every member of the family with its living room, family room and bonus room choices,” said Judith Sisler Johnston, president, Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member. “This home has an eclectic blend of furniture styles and finishes which provides warmth and interest.”
In designing the Ashley, a four-bedroom, four-bath family home, Sisler Johnston painted the walls and ceilings in croissant beige and added color blocks of wintergreen and tangerine on select walls and niches. Large stone tile flooring in the foyer extends into the kitchen and breakfast room.
The living room has imported mahogany carved wood tables sized to the room’s impressive proportions and some of the pieces include touches of metallic paint highlighting the details. Two accent chairs clad in a myriad of forest leaves and colors accompany a soft, neutral textured sofa. A large Palladian window overlooks the screened outdoor living space. For warmth and continuity, Sisler Johnston chose sculptural, floating cornice headers to display the flowing neutral and forest leaf tapestry draperies.
By contrast, the dining room furnishings are hand-painted. The console is located within a colorful wintergreen niche. The rectangular glass table has an antique painted iron base. Four side chairs feature stenciled leaves with croissant suede cloth seats while two shield-back French arm chairs include a leafy jacquard skirt.
The wintergreen color block that began in the formal areas also wraps into the kitchen and breakfast room. Spicy tangerine color offers a playful contrast in the window designs, art and floral accessories. The stone tile flooring has been installed on a diagonal as a contrast to the straight cabinet placement and visually enlarges the already expansive spaces.
The breakfast bay window is mitered glass for an unobstructed view of the outdoor living space, which has a pool, summer kitchen dining and furniture for reclining and relaxing. Sisler Johnston chose a limestone table top with modern ladder-back rattan chairs and complementary counter-height stools with Tuscan-patterned upholstery. Glazed cognac maple cabinets and a contrasting charcoal center island complete the space.
“The Ashley kitchen is truly gourmet in its size, layout and contrasting cabinet choices,” Sisler Johnston said. One of the signature features of ICI’s Ashley plan is the great room fireplace wall, offering a family entertainment wall of built-ins with a large elliptical window above.
The master bedroom features two croissant walls with two wintergreen walls for contrast. The king-sized bed has leather headboard inserts with rope wood carvings that continue around its bed box frame. A chenille fabric duvet is accented by shams and pillows corded and fringed in tangerine silks. The room is bathed in light from the large doors to the pool and lanai. Instead of a matching nightstand, Sisler Johnston added a hand-painted kidney-shaped writing desk with a shield-back chair.
The spacious master bath has a soaking tub, walk-in shower, dual vanities and a separate water closet. The stone tile flooring complements the coordinating tile walls with listello accents in walnut travertine. This family home’s floor plan is designed like a clover leaf with separate quarters for the master suite, children’s bedrooms and the guest suite.
To enhance the tropical-themed girl’s suite, Sisler Johnston chose java rattan furnishings. The island-style bed has a padded, textured green fabric inserted into the headboard and footboard. The bed wall is bathed in tangerine and the island-style fabrics are trimmed with layers of natural grass skirting as a tropical fringe.
The large boy’s bedroom has twin beds with bookcase headboards and an entertainment armoire. The wintergreen bed wall provides contrast to the honey oak furniture with brushed pewter hardware. The room’s theme highlights the child’s interest
in military aviation. A lamp has a fighter jet base with a camouflage shade and aviation accessories fill the room. The patchwork bed quilts feature camouflage, plaids, stripes, and solid caramel blocks with helicopter and naval airplanes patterned prints.
The guest suite is dressed in the tangerine color with butternut-colored bed coverings layering the iron sleigh bed. A dark khaki wood dresser with oil-rubbed bronze hardware is an heirloom reproduction of a Camden Hall estate. Sisler Johnston chose multi-colored glass beaded trims to accent the window designs in this colorful suite.
The Ashley floor plan has a large bonus room designed as a media room/home office. A computer desk, bookcase hutch and task chair provide functionality while a comfortable leather sofa, lounge chair and wall mounted plasma television and console fulfill media room needs.
