SISLER JOHNSTON COMPLETES MATTAMY HOMES' GRAND TORREY PINES MODEL AT BARTRAM SPRINGS

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The Grand Torrey Pines model home by Mattamy Homes at Bartram Springs features Sisler Johnston Interior Design.

“This is a versatile floor plan with family spaces at the center of the home and bedroom areas zoned away in different directions for privacy,” said Judith Sisler Johnston, president, Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member.  “The bedrooms are all so private and each has its own bath.”

Noche stone tile flooring flows from the foyer into the dining room, family room, kitchen, breakfast room and hallways.  A five-foot high recessed niche in the foyer is accent painted in umber and showcases a large pedestal vase with greenery.

The foyer opens onto the formal dining room.  A built-in millwork lifestyle wall includes caramel maple cabinetry with granite tops and niches with glass shelving and mirrored back walls.  Sisler Johnston painted the niche shelving areas in a butternut squash color, which coordinates with the fully upholstered host chairs and faux silk window panels.  The dining room side chairs are Chippendale-style with cowhide leather seats, an interesting combination of traditional and modern design elements.

Contrasting butternut-colored paint highlights the formal living room’s sofa wall and window wall.  Accent tables feature leather tops with bronze strapping as shelves and graceful turned legs.  Moroccan patterned upholstery with green and rust red accents covers the carved wood Bergere chair.  A festive arrangement of deep red wild orchids on a hand-painted console chest complements the artwork over the sofa.  The stately floor lamp has an onyx medallion, candle lights and leather shade.  Although Sisler Johnston designed a formal living room in this home, the space would also work as a home office.

The family room focal point is the fireplace wall, which has built-in cabinetry with entertainment and accessory shelving provided by Mattamy Homes as one of its many standard features.

“Since the furniture arrangement floats around the fireplace, I selected fabrics similar in tone to the walls and flooring,” Sisler Johnston said.  “For a splash of color, I used a refreshing fern green paint shade behind the niches and included the same color in my accent pillows and fringe details.”

A classic diamond patterned mid-scale chenille fabric carries the look from the furniture pieces
stools in the country kitchen.  In similar fashion, a matchstick patterned wallcovering extends from the kitchen through the breakfast room and across the family room window wall to add another layer of textured interest.

A basketball theme highlights the tween-age boy’s room with wallies of a bouncing basketball from one end of the sky blue room to the other.  They go over the red and blue tent-style window valence, across the blue and white bookcase filled with red tin game box organizers and land in the nearly full size basketball goal.  What a fun room!

The master bedroom suite has an entry niche, a bay of windows as well as a large transom over the custom designed king bed, which has cayenne pepper framing and okra padded panels.  Pocket-sized window cornices have beaded trimmed scarves as overlay valences.  A heavily textured, sisal woven bed bench is an inviting embellishment.

The guest bedroom sports a sailing theme.  Situated in front of the rusty red accent painted bed wall, the fully upholstered custom headboard features a ship’s wheel with nautical rope border.  The bedcoverings are Maltese linen while the shams have a contemporary sailing pattern with red flange.  The linen window panels have red inserts for contrast while nautical knots on red banding highlight the valences.

The upstairs family theatre room is painted okra and home to a star-studded cast of life-sized characters including Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and Humphrey Bogart.  This family fun room has a big screen television console, Broadway wall mural, game table and colorful lounge seating.  Even the window valance has a director’s casting card and applied tapes within its pennant-shaped flaps.

The upstairs theatre room also has an adjoining full bath and could function as a guest master suite.  The Grand Torrey Pines is designed with every family lifestyle in mind.

“The Grand Torrey Pines offers a versatile floor plan.” Sisler Johnston said.  “This is a design that offers something for everyone.”
