JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Sisler Johnston Interior Design
received two prestigious Laurel Awards for interior design
excellence from the Northeast Florida Builders Association
Sales and Marketing Council.
The company was honored for Best Interior Merchandising of a Detached Home in
two categories: $500,000 to $1 million for The Castillo in Palencia and
more than $1 million for The Emerald at Plantation Bay. Both models are
by ICI Homes.
“We
are extremely honored to receive these Laurel Awards,” said Judith Sisler
Johnston, president of Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member. “These
awards are a tribute to the fine work by the team at ICI Homes. It is a
privilege to contribute to the success of the builders with which we work.”
Recognized for Best Interior Merchandising in the $500,000 to $1 million price
range, The Castillo by ICI Homes is a courtyard model home located at Bella Terra
in
Palencia. Sisler Johnston reviewed the plans and selected the finest materials
to create the ambiance of a European village. To complement the refreshing
pool at the heart of its courtyard design, the designer chose soothing spa color
enhancements. The gourmet kitchen has double-stacked, espresso brown cabinets
with multiple glass-front doors to display collectibles. The kitchen includes
built-in counter height seating and flows into the dining room and family room. Large
scale travertine patterned tiles were used throughout the home with carpeting
only in the bedrooms.
One of the large secondary bedrooms is designed as a home office with a wet bar. The
furnishings have rich brown wood tones and soft spa blue upholstery. Sisler
Johnston selected furnishings that highlight classic style with subtle contemporary
influences. The master suite has a grand scale walk-through closet. Another
bedroom highlights a music theme with drums and guitar décor. The
courtyard stairway leads to a detached guest suite over the garage. The
designer chose a Chippendale-style rattan bed, contrasting cane-paneled bed chests
and bed covers with a tropical motif in spa tones.
The interior design firm also received the Best Interior
Merchandising award in the more than $1 million category
for The Emerald Showcase Home by ICI Homes at Plantation
Bay. The home blends high-tech, energy efficient building
materials with the refinements of luxurious living. ICI
Homes partnered with nationally known companies, including
GE Ecoimagination, Demilec (USA), Sun Built, Moen, Color
Wheel, Kohler, Shaw Industries, and Habitech to provide a
green building program showhouse. Featuring 20-foot high
ceilings and a 24-foot expanse of slide-away doors, this
spacious, light-filled home captures green upgrades in its
systems building components,
including Low E3 windows, a 15 Seer air conditioning system
and a solar water heater. Sustainable construction items include spray foam insulation to
increase indoor air quality, lower energy consumption and produce a quieter home. Green
upgrades also utilize a grid-connected solar electric system that creates and
captures electricity from the sun. The designer selected environmental
colors and sustainable finishes compatible with the tastes of a luxury homebuyer. The
Emerald features an eclectic mix of furnishings ranging from classic contemporary
to traditional. Sisler Johnston used extensive millwork and cabinetry throughout
the home to reinforce upscale ambiance.
Now in its 15th year, the Laurel Awards are presented annually to builders, developers,
architects, planners, interior designers, Realtors, sales and marketing professionals
and others who have demonstrated sales, building and design excellence in Northeast
Florida.
