SISLER JOHNSTON INTERIOR DESIGN COMPLETES CORNERSTONE HOMES' ATLANTIS MODEL AT NOCATEE

PONTE VEDRA, Florida – Sisler Johnston Interior Design has completed the installation of the Atlantis model by Cornerstone Homes at Austin Park in Nocatee.

“Cornerstone Homes’ trademark design style and exceptional architectural features come to life in this model home,” said Judith Sisler Johnston, president, Sisler Johnston Interior Design and ASID Allied Member.

For the welcoming entry foyer, Sisler Johnston selected a contemporary demi-lune (half-round) console, which has a diamond-faceted front and is finished in bronze, silver, and gold gilding.  She paired it with a tall mirror to accentuate the linear quality of the 10-foot ceiling height.  Eighteen-inch travertine-patterned tile installed on the diagonal flows from the foyer into the dining room, gallery, family room, breakfast room and gourmet kitchen.

The dining room table comfortably seats six.  The walnut guest chairs have an oval back and doeskin suede covers while the host chairs are distinctively skirted in a classic Moroccan pattern featuring shades of cinnamon, sage and doeskin.  The serving console blends classic and contemporary lines and is paired with colorful framed art above.  Solid dill color blocks float against a biscuit background and lend geometric interest.

The home office is conveniently located away from the home’s entertainment areas and features a designer built-in lifestyle wall to display books, photographs, collectibles, and a large flat screen television.  A table desk provides work space and a dill suede lounge chair offers a perfect place to read the morning newspaper or view the wall mounted television.

The gallery leading to the family room area has a niche painted in dill and a display of tropical oil paintings.  The family room and breakfast room have walls of windows, making those spaces especially sunny and bright.  The fireplace wall has custom shelves and cabinetry to enhance the room and includes a large screen television mounted above.  Designed with a combination of drywall and millwork base cabinets and moldings, the feature wall is accentuated with bold cinnamon accent paint.

The sofa and loveseat are anchored by a natural sisal rug banded in a bronze color.  Cinnamon brushed chenille pillows, richly embellished with fringe cords and trims, top the neutral-colored sofa.

The kitchen cabinets have staggered heights and glass panels to display favorite cookware or china.  The countertops are Cambria solid surface, and Sisler Johnston added a backsplash of tumbled marble, four-inch diagonal tile for texture. Stainless steel appliances coordinate with the Cambria tones and the open breakfast bar is lit with decorative mini pendants.  A textured cinnamon wall covering in the kitchen and breakfast room ties into the adjacent family room.

The color flows into the master suite with an interesting reversal.  The dill bed coverings feature gold and bold cinnamon accents.  The furniture is walnut stained cherry and offers a contemporary interpretation of a four poster bed.  A large elliptical mirror replicates the dresser hardware in color and shape.  The window bay provides a restful area for lounge chairs.  Window cornices covered in dill fabrics have cinnamon floral inserts and long shimmering beads as trims.

The master bath has a whirlpool tub, dual vanities and a built-in coffee bar, which doubles as towel storage.  The counter backsplash features a band of glass mosaics that are carried into the shower and over the whirlpool tub.  Sisler Johnston selected the same color fabric for the band detail on the cascading window jabots

The secondary bedrooms are alive with color and imaginatively designed to appeal to children.  The boy’s room has a lively mural depicting a “Go Team” grandstand of fans at their favorite sporting event.  The espresso wood finish loft bed has a built-in study desk on the lower level with sleep space on the upper level.  The bed coverings feature scenic baseball cards, which are used to embellish the window cornices along with child-sized baseball bats.  Instead of a traditional dresser for storage, Sisler Johnston provided a television cabinet with storage drawers below.

The girl’s room has an icy green wall tint and an iron bed in pewter and antique gold.  The bed coverings underscore a coastal theme and the closet is large enough to include a play area

The FEMA-approved storm room is a standard feature included in all homes built by Cornerstone at Austin Park.  Sisler Johnston had a mural artist paint “windows” in this space and provided benches and storage for bottled water and snacks.

The grand upstairs bonus room is designed as a home theater with a comfy leather sectional sofa and a game table grouping.  There is an entertainment wall for large screen television viewing and game storage.

“Because of the room’s large size, I used a wallpaper border as a chair rail with a bold forest accent below,” Sisler Johnston said.  “I repeated the theme in the window dressings to make it an all-around fun room for the entire family.”

Large movie posters are handsomely framed and mounted above the movie border.  Bottles of soda, popcorn and games highlight the decor of this bonus space.  The bonus bathroom carries the same festive theme.

Cornerstone designed this home with a spacious screened porch overlooking the lakefront view.  For this space, Sisler Johnston chose espresso brown woven wicker outdoor furniture with plush tropical patterned cushions.
